Children who turn 4 by June 1st are eligible for Transitional Kindergarten at Saint Brigid School
A year spent in our TK program will help prepare your child to meet the demands of Kindergarten with academic readiness and personal confidence. Transitional kindergarten is designed to ease the transition from a preschool learning environment into that of the traditional kindergarten classroom.
Children join us in a wide variety of learning atmospheres, and we understand there are varying levels of development and motor skills in a 4’s and 5’s classroom. Because of this, we are mindful to meet the individual needs of each student in a gentle and loving environment.
The core curriculum is taught in the morning, and the children are then eased into a slower afternoon with constructive play, music, stories, and other enrichment activities. In addition to the academic curriculum, our TK students become increasingly comfortable with structure and routine and develop important social practices and emotional awareness, like showing kindness and respect, following directions, administering self-care and being responsible for their belongings. They also begin to grasp their valued place as an individual within a classroom setting and understand important concepts like working together, being empathetic and mindful of one another needs, and taking pride in tidying up their shared space. It’s an exciting year for the littlest ones at Saint Brigid School.
The Transitional Kindergarten day is from 8:30 AM - 2:45 PM, with an optional pick up at 12:30. We also offer supervision in the schoolyard beginning at 7:00 AM, as well as aftercare program, which is available until 6:00 PM.
Our TK follows the Common Core standards as per California State Requirements. To schedule a tour, rsvp here. For more information, or to request an application, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
